Our client is a reputed company in the media industry, and their team travels regularly throughout the year given the scope of their operation. Their finance team must allocate substantial hours to manually collecting receipts and recording data.

Omega Strategy

Omega consulted the client to implement OCR (Optical Character Recognition), NLP (Natural Language Processing), and RPA (Robotic Process Automation) to design a smart rebate system. The characters on physical documents will be deciphered using OCR and translated to digital formats. This feature is instrumental for businesses that routinely receive paper-based bills and seek to switch them to computerized records to prevent long hours of hand-operated data input.

Accounting professionals could scan a physical invoice into an OCR computer code interface and then entrust the technology to detect the characters on the page. The Omega team offered the client a solution that uses OCR from PDF, document mining, and natural language processing (NLP) to deliver advanced insights and intelligence for commercial agreement contracts between two parties.

Our team provided them with a detailed list of tools required for the execution of this program. We recommended the Python pyocr, the Google OCR library in Java/PySpark as libraries, Pycharm for the IDE, and the Google OCR Library as open source tools. JIRA was included in the list as an Agile tool for the development life cycle.
