Green Ops, Inc. is proud to announce a transformative partnership with Omega Consulting to address one of the most urgent environmental challenges facing American Samoa—inefficient waste management. With no RCRA Subtitle D-compliant waste program and severely limited disposal infrastructure, the region is in critical need of a modern, compliant, and sustainable solution.
At the heart of the problem lies the Port of Pago Pago, a hub of economic activity and a major source of marine waste—from vessel sludge to cargo-related debris. Complicating matters further, stringent MARPOL Annex V regulations prohibit the discharge of garbage into the sea, requiring all ship-generated waste to be safely handled onshore. This calls for not just compliance, but innovation.
Green Ops, Inc. is delivering that innovation. Its advanced waste management system is designed specifically to tackle the unique marine and land-based waste challenges of American Samoa. The system will ensure the safe collection, processing, and disposal of operational waste, including oil residues, sewage, toxic cleaning agents, and general garbage from vessels. It will also prevent illegal discharges that threaten Pago Pago Harbor’s fragile marine ecosystem and public health.
To underpin this operational rollout, Omega Consulting’s Strategy and Analytics team will provide comprehensive planning, organizational structuring, and performance guidance. Their expertise will ensure that Green Ops not only complies with international maritime regulations, but also becomes an accredited waste management provider under MARPOL Annex V.
This initiative is more than a compliance measure—it’s a blueprint for sustainable infrastructure development. The partnership aims to:
- Establish an environmentally sound waste collection network for vessels docking in American Samoa.
- Reduce the environmental and economic toll of unmanaged marine waste.
- Position Green Ops, Inc. as a regional leader in marine waste services.
- Lay the foundation for long-term ecological protection and economic resilience.
Together, Green Ops, Inc. and Omega Consulting are catalyzing a new era of waste management in American Samoa—one that prioritizes sustainability, regulatory compliance, and economic development. This collaboration is not just a response to an environmental issue—it’s a strategic move toward a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Pacific.
